this has got to be the first year since i got an online diary that i haven't posted reflections for the year past and resolutions for the year to come.
maybe they aren't that necessary. pointless come to think of it. i probably posted something like lose weight and grow taller last year. i accomplished neither.

well i'm back. and i've welcomed the new year with a gum ache, a sore throat, a flu and a really bad cough. the new school term starts in about 2 days. miserable thought.
ann arbor's really the place to be. after being the small-town girl for 4 and a half months, DC, boston and NYC just ain't the place for me.

the backpacking trip was something of an experience. the bits in DC and boston went pretty okay. DC was somewhat of a bore though. all these stately buildings done up in grecian or colonial fashion. the museum of natural history was pretty fun though.
boston is really the city to live in. the three university campuses that we visited was a letdown though. harvard, MIT and boston uni. nothing beats old U of M. brian and i broke of from the main group for a day and explored Salem. a half hour's train ride out of boston. the land of the infamous salem witch trials. and i got more than just that. it'a pretty and quiet little town with such cute and quaint stores. and i did learn about the witch trials though they're a lot smaller than that in europe.
NYC. the one-room apartment we got for 8 people was way too small. so vincent lora and shao left to join a friend and i joined daryl and qianyi at the columbia uni dorms. it was pretty much separate itineraries from then on. NYC is really the buslting big aple with plenty to do at behemoth costs. it did remind me a little of the May Labour Day holidays last year in China. way too many people. i didn't see the convential tourist attractions.
it was just Broadway, Central Park, a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, shopping, 5th Ave, Chinatown, Columbia uni, a snapshot of Harlem for me. but that's enough for me.

i didn't count down at new year's. i didn't head to times square and i'm glad of it. i spoke to my mom and sis over new year's and tried unsuccessfully to watch a movie. nonetheless it was still beautiful.

i'm glad to be back. bone tired and sick. off to the doc's now.

can't you hear it sing?
