hello.
i hope this posts! anyway. i basically can't see everyone's blogs. everyone who uses blogger anyway. so please please email me and update me k!
i went to school today. the first official day of the course. i registered and bought my textbooks. made my student pass(i'm a student again!) and did my placement test. saw many international students. anyway, there's 3 categories of chinese classes. elementary, intermediate and advanced. within each category there's 3 distinctions of lower middle and upper. i scraped by into lower advanced.
so i'll just say that frankly, our Mandarin in sunny Singapore isn't very good. my listening and comprehension skills is like nil comparatively. i mean, the listening comprehension that we were so used to is like peanuts in comparison.
i've been walking around a lot but not pespiring. the dry weather is making my skin peel too. it's quite a distance walking about in Shanghai. the cold is pretty dismal. though the window of sunshine yesterday was pretty cheery. i've never thought myself as much of a sunshine girl but oi must say the cold really puts things into perspective. i realise that my mood automatically lifts in the morning and begins to droop around evening when the sun sets. of course, winter is ending soon and the cold isn't freezing temperatures either. just being bundled up into sausage-like structures and having to curl into a ball when you sleep isn't too fun.
and remember how i always wanted a queen-sized bed? it's not exactly good that i have one now coz it means having to heat up the whole bed with your body heat. not a nice thought.
i'm pretty excited about the elective modules that i get to take. hopefully i'll be able to cram as many in as possible and be able to make full use of my stay here. by the way, i've already cooked 2 meals for my parents here. quite pleased with my cooking skills. i specialise in boiling and steaming hunnies!! microwaving, deep-frying and roasting are not within my scope :P
